The Army Chief of Bangladesh has issued an important statement, indicating that the Grand Janmashtami rally will now.

New Delhi: Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar Uz Zaman has stated in a major address that this country belongs to the people of all religions and communities.

Addressing Hindu devotees gathered at Dhakeshwari Temple to inaugurate the Janmashtami rally, General Waqar Uz Zaman said that all citizens living in Bangladesh are equal, irrespective of their religion or region.

While extending greetings on Janmashtami, he urged everyone to celebrate the festival with joy and harmony.

It is important to note that this statement comes at a time when there are widespread atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh.

Since Yunus took over as the interim government in August last year, minority Hindus and temples have been targeted in Bangladesh.

Against this backdrop, the army chief sent a strong message to extremist elements in his speech.

During his speech, General Zaman thanked the temple committee for inviting him to the Janmashtami celebrations.

People of all religions should live together: General Zaman

Bangladesh is a country of harmony, where Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, hill communities, and Bengalis have lived together peacefully for centuries.

On this sacred occasion of Janmashtami, we must pledge to preserve this brotherhood forever.”

Zaman emphasized, “Bangladesh belongs to all; there will be no division here.

There can be no discrimination based on religion, caste, or creed. We are all citizens of this land and we all have equal rights in it. Together, we aspire for a brighter future.”

Janmashtami Rally Will Be Held Every Year

The Army Chief said that the Janmashtami procession was a major annual tradition in Dhaka in the 19th and 20th centuries, but it has been discontinued in recent times.

He expressed full confidence that the Janmashtami procession will now be held every year. He assured that all necessary cooperation will be provided from his side.
