New Delhi: Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is focused on becoming the “God-ordained protector of Pakistan” and has no plans to become president or a politician.
In a public interview with Pakistani journalist Suhail Warraich in Brussels, Munir publicly refuted rumors of imminent political upheaval in Islamabad, dismissing such claims as fabrications concocted by elements seeking to destabilize the country.
“God has designated me as the defender of the nation. I do not seek any role beyond this,” he is reported to have said. “I am a soldier, and my highest wish is martyrdom.”
He also issued a warning about potentially attacking India if it were to collaborate with the Afghans “to instigate instability” in the country.
The field marshal of Pakistan stated that he “genuinely values” the peacemaking efforts of US President Donald Trump and is proud that Pakistan took the lead in nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize.
At the same time, he emphasized that Pakistan will not prioritize the US over China. “We will not sacrifice one ally for another,” he stated.
Regarding economic issues, Munir provided a thorough plan that he envisions will help lift Pakistan out of its financial crisis and position it among the developed nations of the world within the next five to ten years.
