Women’s Cricket A key issue for India under head coach Amol Mazumdar has been their fielding. They appeared to have turned the page with a clinical display on the England tour. But after dropping four catches in the first match, India took three more in the third ODI against Australia and were left reeling by their numerous fielding errors. All of this led to Australia scoring 412 runs in the series decider in Delhi – equalling their highest total in women’s ODIs. It was the seventh time the women’s team had crossed the 400-run mark in this format.
Women’s Cricket Beth Mooney played a key role, scoring a brilliant 138 off 75 balls in the 22nd over. She shared 106 off 72 with Ellyse Perry and then 82 off 46 with Ashley Gardner, setting the stage for Australia to post the highest team total in women’s ODIs against India. Opener Georgia Woll and all-rounder Perry also scored half-centuries, but India never looked let down.
Women’s Cricket Skipper Alyssa Healy set the tone early on, wanting India to “run in the heat” and decided to bat. She attacked India’s new-ball bowlers and Australia managed to hit two fours each in the first five overs. She was then dismissed for the third time in three matches by Kranti Goud, but Woll continued to attack, Perry providing stability throughout her fluent innings.
